Little Kingfisher, Rufous Owl
Palmetum Botanical Garden, Townsville
Little Kingfisher: in small creek (1). Rufous Owl: Family party, including juv bird and bird with damaged eye (this looks a lot better than when last reported) Water-rat tail (and a few other unidentifiable 'bits') under birds. (3).

Great Cormorant, Black-eared Cuckoo
Townsville Town Common Conservation Park
Great Cormorant: freshwater hide (1). Black-eared Cuckoo: calling from dead trees about 200m before the Bald Rock turn. (1).

Radjah Shelduck, Little Kingfisher
Centenary Lakes, Cairns
An adult pair of Radjah Shelduck was recorded at 8am on Saturday resting beside Freshwater Lake, but had gone from the area an hour later. This species is a rare visitor to the Cairns area. Also seen during this time were 3 individual Little Kingfishers - 2 along the mangroves of Saltwater Creek with another bird on the connecting channel that runs alongside The Lakes Resort. This a good number of such an uncommon & elusive species.
