The grass trees on Mt Mitchell [SEQ] were in blossom yesterday and were a magnet for nectar seeking birds. The birds were so intent on harvesting the nectar that I could get much closer than normal [I photographed a Scarlet Honeyeater at a distance of 3 metres]. The flower feeding bonus was a "female" plumaged Regent Bowerbird that posed nicely for the camera on the summit.

Is Grasstree nectar particularly attractive, or is it the fact that it is easily accessible that makes it such a magnet for birds?

Regards, Laurie.
