Hi all

I am in the market for a new spotting scope and after much research and
deliberating , I have decided on a Swarovski STM 80 HD, with a 20-60 eye
piece.

However I cannot find anywhere in Australia that seems to carry this model.
Does anyone know a supplier that does ?

The closest I have come is Bintel in Sydney with an ATM 80HD for $4929, or
the Birding Shop with a STS 80HD + 20-60 zoom eye piece for $4458.

I hope to ultimately also use it for digiscoping and wondering if anyone has
had any experience with straight versus angled when it comes to ease of use.

Also Magnesium versus Aluminium bodies i.e. STM versus STS . I know
aluminium is heavier but cheaper but in the field which is best ?

I have searched the birding-aus archives but also was unable to answer any
of these questions.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Dick Jenkin
