Dean,
Fantastico Sur are good if you get Enrique Cuve. He is an excellent
birder. Not cheap though. They provide transport. He lives in Punta
Arenas and would come up if there was a couple of days involved,
otherwise you would get a local guide who probably doesn't know the
birds as well.
Otherwise you could hire a small minibus with driver and unless you
speak Spanish well you will probably get a general purpose (non birding)
guide as well. You could then visit La Campana National Park and / or
coastal areas without a bird guide for quite a bit less. See less birds too.
Regards,
John

Hi all,
Does anyone have any recommendations for guides or birding without your own
car(!) in Santiago Chile and Buenos Aires? (I've contacted birders through
BirdingPal and some local guides that I found off the web). We are on a strict
(student) budget!
I will be travelling with 1-2 companions August 13th-September 5th (some of
the time attending the IOC in Brazil).
If anyone else is birding in Brazil at the time of the IOC and wouldn't mind
some taggers along, then please get in touch.
Admittedly, this is rather last minute to be planning our birding trip to
South America, since we leave next week! But I have been swamped and I suppose
it's never too late.
Any help would be great.
