Can I just say a big thanks to Steve Potter for starting this thread and to
Russell and his cohorts for allowing it to flourish. It's amazing the diversity
of views and opinions, which is the wonderful thing about human beings eh!

And while we are on about a rich tapestry, we have an amazing breadth of
birding services online, which are all used and the network is just growing all
the time. Brilliant! So adding a bit more value, with a service that's
different to anything else - is that such a crime? I don't think so.

There's no reason why information gathered by any of the portals can't all end
elsewhere - Birdline, Eremaea or anywhere else. I am sure it will, and we
would like it to. For all of us, there's so much to be gained from innovative
ideas and harnessing passion and enthusiasm.

Can I also thank the many people who, over the last few weeks (and in the last
24 hours) have emailed us to support rolling forward. You know I love
birding-aus but 'fraid to say, the views of the few on this forum, are
outweighed by the views of the many outside it.

We are feeling a lot more confident about pressing on, thanks to your support
and have made the necessary changes to the site, to respond to suggestions.

Kind regards,

Simon Mustoe.
