No, I wasn't suggesting that the wind farm at Bald Hills was responsible for
the extinction of the OBP. After all, there IS no wind farm at Bald Hills.
I was suggesting that preventing the building of said wind farm had utterly
nothing to do with the decline of the OBP, and that the bird was simply a
cover for another reason not to build the wind farm.

Its a bit of a stretch suggesting/implying that the Bald Hills wind-farm
brought down the OBP. The negligence of the Victorian and Federal
Governments - in turn caused by voters wishes - important in this. Bald
Hills is irrelevant to the OBP's fate.
Hopefully, as you point out, it can be used as an example to shame
Governments and ultimately the public to allocate resources to other
potential extinctions - wild Gouldian Finches?

The only thing I can add is that if (or, sadly when) the OBP is declared
extinct in the wild, the Victorian and federal governments builds a
whopping great wind farm at Bald Hills as a suitable memorial.
Out of this, perhaps, some good will come.

For those interested the link below is to an article in the Melbourne
Age
