I've been told that in south america its largely first year Bar-tailed Godwits that over winter. Googling turned up this banding report from Corner Inlet: http://home.vicnet.net.au/~vwsg/VWSG%20Activities%20Aug%2009.htm suggesting Australia is similar. Andrew |
