Macadamia magpie-larks

Hi

 

I work in the macadamia industry and can report that peewees like to eat
macadamia kernel.  One male I watch holds the kernel in his left foot and
pecks at it.  I wonder if they discovered the food value of kernel by
watching the crows at work?
