Alexander Watson has just returned from Kununurra. He passed a few comments
on to me to update my web site, and asked me to post them on birding-aus.
1. At the Dreaming Statues in Wyndham he saw five species of finch
including Gouldian Finch (2) and Star Finch (1). This site has been
mentioned to me a few times as being a good chance for Gouldian Finch. You
can't miss the statues as you drive in to Wyndham.
2. He recommends Home Valley Station. This is about 5km west of the
Pentecost River on the Gibb River Road. He very easily found
Purple-crowned Fairy-wren behind the accommodation units (Unit 5 in
particular). He also saw Pictorella Mannikins in the woodlands up the
nearby hill.
