A beautiful autumn afternoon in The Alice today, off to the best start
possible with a Grey Falcon.

Just inside the gate I met Ken and Maureen Dredge, and we had just completed
introductions when the bird flew overhead and all three of us had good views
as it headed SE over the information shelter to the vicinity of EP7 where it
circled a couple of times before continuing west.

Only slightly less exciting we managed to track down the Freckled Duck (only
saw one but 2 have been reported) out in the back pond. Found 4 Black-tailed
Godwits and a lot of other waders which are either leaving their departure
late or planning to stick around for the winter here in Alice. Sharpies and
Wood Sandpipers made up the bulk of the groups with a few Marsh Sandpipers,
Common Sandpipers, and Red-kneed, Red-capped, and Black-fronted Dotterels.
