Last night I had a wonderful encounter with a large female Masked Owl in
open forest near the Jimna Forestry Station in the Sunshine Coast
hinterland. This bird, which showed beautifully, and probably one other were
calling well, indicating that the breeding season is underway.
Other good birds there were Paradise Riflebird, Painted Button-quail  and
good numbers of New Holland Honeyeaters, here at the northern end of their
Australian distribution.
