Magellanic Penguin NSW - Birdline sighting 12824Hi Tim and others, This record looks very convincing. Description is quite detailed and appears entirely consistent with Magellanic Penguin. The bird was seen down to distances of just 10 m! The only two confirmed records in the western Pacific are one at Phillip Island Victoria and one at Hawkes Bay, North Island, NZ and these were also both in March (29th March 1976 and 12 March 1972 respectively). http://www.eremaea.com/BirdlineRecentSightings.aspx?Birdline=6 Cheers, Rohan Clarke www.wildlifeimages.com.au |
