As I recall HANZAB suggests it may take a lyrebird 6 months to learn a call.
I read it idly at my Dad's place a year or so ago so more than likely my
memory is faulty.
It was a bit cynical re the bird in David Attenborough's Life Of Birds mimicking chainsaws, cameras and car alarms, as apparently this bird was in captivity (I'm guessing Healesville?) |
