G'day everyone,
I was hoping I could draw on the experience and wisdom of some birders
familiar with Pelagics to help me ID an Albatross I saw this morning off
Long Reef.
I believe the bird in question was unmistakably and Albatross. The size and
jiss suggested so.
The upperside of the wings of the bird were a pale brown/dark colour, but
didn't connect over the back of the bird the way that an adult Black-browed
would have.
The underside was paler. I think, but can't be certain as I didn't get a
very good look at it.
The bird was heading north with the wind.
I couldn't make out any discernable head, face or beak markings, other than
the head was white.
My apologies if this is too little info to help make a positive ID, but it's
all I saw in the short time I saw the bird in the poor conditions.
Regards,
Mark and Mandy
