I received a long&polite private e-mail which, reading between the lines ed I was being unfair in my message today about Lord Howe Island because they are seriously addressing introduced species, would (now) take prompt action when vertebrates are introduced and have in recent years caught a couple of possible accidental introductions which would have been problematic. Which all sounds good - and any case I didn't mean to imply conservation on LHI was any different to the rest of Australia - where there are similar stories about introduced species that could have been nipped in the bud.
