G'day,
I posted the link of this observation to Bird Forum
http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=161523
The one comment I have received so far [from a Canadian] is that the
call is more diagnostic than the plumage. Have any of the observers
heard the bird call, and if so, can they describe the call?
Regards, Laurie.

Hi all
Just to let you know the Semipalmated Plover was present at 13:00
today
(19th Jan) again at the sewage works in its favored spot (west side)
as
described in Frank O Connors's account.
It is very active still chasing the Black-fronted Dotterel around
and often
disappears between the Silver Gull and Caspian Tern roosting there
at the
edge of the pond.
An account of this birds identification and discovery can be found
on the
Broom Bird Observatory BLOG
http://www.broomebirdobservatory.com/flyways/?page_id=7
Still snipe sp, Eastern Yellow Wagtail and Barn Swallow there.
Best wishes
