Hi Chris,

I'm not sure about south Sydney but there has been a self-sustaining wild
population of zebra finches (10 to 20 birds) at Sydney Olympic Park for some
time. Whether these individuals originated from escapees I do not know, I
guess they probably did, but they have been nesting for some years next to
the Hyundai office at Homebush Bay.

Cheers,

Jon Irvine

A bush regeneration worker in Hurstville brought me a badly injured (animal
attack) juvenile Zebra Finch which came from Peakhurst. Does anyone have
records of Zebs in southern Sydney/ This is most likely a cage escapee but
shows some distinctly wild behaviour so I am interested in other sightings.
Ciao
