HI All

Given the interest in WTNT's at this time of year on Birding-Aus I thought I
would share this with you.

Nearly 30 years ago I bought a John Gould print of "Australian Spine-tailed
Swallow - Acanthylis Caudacuta" now WTNT and different latin name. It's a
beautiful print and we still love it. On the back are Gould's field notes
and given they were published in the 1840's are remarkable for their powers
of observation. John Gould is widely regarded as the father of Australian
ornithology. He was also a keen observer and fine writer if comments like "I
have frequently observed in the middle of the hottest day, while lying
prostrate on the ground with my eyes directed upwards, the cloudless blue
sky peopled at an immense elevation by hundreds of these birds." are
anything to go by.

Anyway if anyone is interested I have posted a photo of the print (colours
don't do print justice) and field notes (use magnifier to read copy)
