G'day everyone,
I spotted this shorebird at Pitt town Lagoon this afternoon. I'm not
familiar with this bird at all, and I was hoping to get some help with
establishing and ID of this bird.
I've tried to ID this bird by using Morcombe's but I can't find a bird
that
fits what I've seen.
* The bird appeared to be almost twice the size of the nearby
Sharp-tailed Sandpipers.
* Legs were a dark brownish colour, though these photo's show it with
more of a reddish tinge.
* The colour of the plumage from the crown going down the back of the
neck was darker than the paler throat, breast and underneath.
My apologies for the poor photos. The colour of them hasn't been
altered and
appear as they were shot.

My thoughts were tending towards it perhaps being a Ruff. That ID
seems to
be the closest that I can find that is similar the features I saw in
this
bird.
Any help would be much appreciated.
