Hi All,

The re-appearance this year of the Lesser Yellowlegs in Jerseyville near South
West Rocks on the NSW north coast was announced in September. After visiting
the site (along Boyter's Lane) on the 9th and 18th of this month with Ken
Shingleton and seeing the bird, Ken asked if I could make a post on Birding-aus
to let people know the bird is still present and being seen regularly. Ken
visits the site on a regular basis and as previously mentioned is happy to
assist birders with locating the bird.

Also present on the 9th were three Pectoral Sandpipers (we didn't see any
today but search thoroughly through the many Sharp-taileds). At one time two of
these birds were foraging together on the edge of the water with two Latham's
Snipe, while the Yellowlegs foraged in front of them in the water - an
extraordinary wader sighting indeed!

An adult female Black-necked Stork was present on the 9th, and two Brolgas were
present in the paddock along Boyters Lane the same day. Other waders present
include Marsh Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Curlew Sandpiper, Sharp-tailed
Sandpiper, and Red-necked Stint. Other birds of note were Buff-banded Rail,
Australian Spotted Crake and Red-kneed Dotterel.

Cheers,

Dean
