The best news that our region's environment has received for many years was the scrapping of the amazingily stupid proposed Traveston Dam on the Mary River in SEQ. Peter Garrett, the Federal Environment Minister knocked it back on environmental grounds today at lunchtime. The main rteasons given were that the dam would threaten the endangered Lungfish and Mary River Turtle. It is good to see a Labour federal minister over-ride a Labour State Government......might even listen to an Oils album tonight!
