we had 1 Cook's Petrel at sea from Ulladulla last monday (on the Ulladulla - MV
Banks Pelagic). It was seen well by many and also photographed. The normal
experts from Wollongong were 100% this was a Cook's even before seeing the
photos. Obviously there are a few heading south along the E Coast at present.

> A Cook's Petrel was found along the Old Glen Innes Road near Grafton (North
> Coast NSW) yesterday, many kilometres inland. It was kept overnight by a
> WIRES carer and I released it at Brooms Head today. It flew strongly out to
> sea. Photos were taken but I don't have them as yet. If anyone wants to
> confirm the ID, of which I am very confident, I can email the photos at a
> later date. The only other possibility is Pycroft's Petrel but this species
> has not been confirmed for Australia and it has a smaller bill and is smaller
> overall than the Cook's. The bird that I released today had a longish bill
> and was about 300 mm long.
