For what it's worth because I should have posted a response earlier on, the
Mareeba Wetlands bird looks unexceptionally like a female Grey Shrikethrush
to my eye, all of the plumage characters are there. Grey Thrush can have
some grey showing above the leg area depending on how much the belly
feathers are covering the area. The proportions suggest a larger more long
tailed bird than Little Shrikethrush, and for the same reasons cannot be a
Bowers Shrikethrush which has an even shorter tail than Little and is an
exclusively rainforest inhabitant.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
Opinions are divided with the first bird from Mareeba Wetlands thought to
be Little Shrike-thrush, Grey Shrike-thrush, Bower's Shrike-thrush or an
immature Olive-Backed Oriole. The feature that has me confused is the dark
plumage on the thigh; I can't find anything similar in field guides or
photos on the web. However, I'm leaning towards Little Shrike-thrush.
I think that the second bird from Mareeba is the same species as the one
photographed at McLeod River and I agree with the consensus that they are
White-bellied Cuckoo-shrikes.
