Further to Steve's post today about Baillon's Crake at the cemetery, on Friday 11th September we saw 3 Buff-banded Rails wandering along the water's edge at the mown area below the cemetery. We walked down the old road at the left of this to the water's edge and flushed a Baillon's Crake. While we were standing there a Spotless Crake appeared and flew just in front of us. My visitors were impressed.
