I have been asked by Sydney birder Barbara Harvey to post the following to
birding-aus as she does not have access to this list:
"I have just learned that National Parks are planning a 6.5 hectare hazard
reduction burn of Bradleys Head, Mosman, in Sydney Harbour National Park
sometime next week. I am very concerned that the remaining populations of
breeding birds such as Eastern Whipbird, Eastern Yellow Robin, Spotted
Pardalote, etc could be badly affected by conducting this burn during the
breeding season. The work is being conducted by National Parks in Parramatta
and the contact there is the Sydney Area Manager Peter Hayes at 8968 6303.
Please call him to let him know of your objection to such burns being
carried out in environmentally sensitive areas at this time of the year.
Barbara Harvey"
