Hi all,
Our Invited Speaker is Susan Myers, Field Ornithologist and Tour Guide
who will be talking to us about the Birding in Borneo. Susan was born
and educated in Melbourne and spends most of her time these days birding
abroad. She enjoys scuba diving, has travelled all over Asia, and speaks
Japanese. Susan has worked as a guide for more than fifteen years and is
currently working for Victor Emanuel Nature Tours (VENT), a company
focused on ecotourism that runs birding tours all over the globe.
Borneo is a naturalist's and photographer's delight. Wildlife is
plentiful and diverse due to a hospitable climate and variety in
habitats such as alpine meadows, peat swamps, mangroves, heath forests
and rainforests. Of the 620 bird species recorded in Borneo, 420 species
are resident and 48 endemic of which most of these are restricted to
mountainous regions.
Susan is highly regarded around the world as an expert on the avifauna
in Borneo. She recently published the definitive field guide 'Birds of
Borneo' (published by Princeton) which has beautiful illustrations of
maps and hundreds of birds, see
http://press.princeton.edu/titles/9000.html. Please join us to hear
Susan Myers share her passion for Borneo's birds and natural wonders,
extensive knowledge and enlightening stories.
