Hi Anne,
Try Martin Williams - we found him to be an
excellent guide.
The must-do site in Hong Kong is Mai Po - in November your friend may catch
the migratory shorebirds heading south, so it would be well worth a look
there!
Another key site is the Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve (the forest) - some easy
walking tracks and several largish clearings where you'll find bush birds.
Victoria Peak on Hong Kong island is good - mostly for the view, but there
are walking tracks around the summit that will turn up a few birds, and
watching the Black Kites soaring over the Peak is simply amazing.
Also try the Botanical Gardens on Hong Kong island for the common birds, and
Kowloon Park for the ducks and waterfowl.
