Kakapo!

Hi all,
There is a world of difference between Tiritiri and this Kakapo on Ulva. All
the introduced birds on Tiri breed there, and I don't see how it can really
be described as an enclosure. It isn't true that most of the birds have
names (though the Takahe and Kokako do, for reasons that escape me). The
Kakapo on Ulva will be in an enclosure (aka cage) and I don't know of any
birders, anywhere, that would consider ticking a bird in that state. Sure it
will be a pretty impressive sight and one which many folk will go out of
their way to see - because there are no other Kakapo viewable under any
conditions anywhere else unless you work, or volunteer, for DoC.

Cheers

Correct and I don't think I implied that? Sorry if I did!

Some of the birds on Tiritiri would now be extinct if it weren't for
enclosures: Stitchbird, Saddleback and Takahe.
