Hi Folks, An amazing afternoon at Maroubra with Ray Gobbe. As we sat down to
bird, an immature Grey-Headed Albatross flew past at under 100m distance! It
was followed by Yellow-Nosed, Black-Browed and a Giant Petrel over the next
few minutes. Later on, we spotted 12 albatross (10 BB, 2YN) in a group about
800m out. Several distant whales were seen before Ray picked up 2 Humpbacks,
one with thick orange rope wrapped through its mouth and down its back
(after various calls were made a contact at WIRES reported this to National
Parks). 20 minutes later we saw a group of up to 8 Humpbacks come round the
corner at under 100m. What an awesome sight. Life is good. Have a great
weekend. Cheers, Graham Buchan
