I came across the following snippet while browsing through the Qld

Department of Environment and Resource Management
Funding of $1.2 million has been identified for a feasibility study
for a new Great Walk from the Daintree River to the tip of Cape York.
The study will be undertaken during the next twelve months.
If the route is developed, the alignment may be of interest to the
bushwalkers in the group. Presumably it would parallel the Bloomfield
Track to Cooktown, then work its way through Lakefield to Princess
Charlotte Bay. It would be great if it traversed the McIlwrath and
Iron Ranges and made its way past Shelburne Bay. I suspect it would
probably run up the old telegraph track to the Jardine River.
