The ABC report on the eastern bristlebird followed my story on the subject in The Australian: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25424003-30417,00.html. It can be seen here that the axing of the captive breeding programs is a new policy in Queensland not just for the bristlebird but for other endangered species, including the bridled nail-tail wallaby. The debate about whether these programs are doing the job is an important one to have.
