Mt Greville is often a birding desert. However, with picture postcard
conditions today, the place was busy with Eastern Spinebills and
Yellow-faced Honeyeaters tucking into flowering shrubs - one species
with red pea like flowers was quite prolific.
The birding highlight was a Yellow-tufted Honeyeater seen enroute from
the lookout at the top of the Waterfall Gorge to the summit. The
birding lowlight was pulling a deceased Swamphen from the middle of
the road south of Boonah [it was still warm and its relatives were
hanging about and were likely to be skittled].
While there weren't too many birds around the lavender themed winery
between Boonah and Mt Alford, there were glorious views of Scenic Rim
to be had from the alfresco eating area.
Regards, Laurie.
