Hi all
had a bit of a raptor week this week.
- Monday, driving to the station I saw a single Pacific Baza circling over
the traffic on the Pacific Highway near the Mona Vale Road junction, approx
7:30am. It went into the trees between the highway and the railway, where I
got an excellent silhouette view, complete with the crest, as I waited for
the traffic lights to change.
- Tuesday morning just before St Johns Road/Pacific Highway junction in
Gordon, a Peregrine went north, very low.
- Wednesday as I was out for my morning walk in Turramurra, a Grey Goshawk
did a pass over the trees in Irish Town Grove, Turramurra, approx 6:30am -
obviously hoping to find some Noisy Miners, Cockies or Currawongs that
hadn't woken up properly.
And today (Saturday), there was a single Little Eagle flying over my house,
approx 1:20pm. Moved slowly, allowing good views of very white underside in
the bright sunlight with a distinct russet collar Bird had a very "chunky"
jizz compared to the Whistling Kites I see sometimes.
Perhaps I should have looked a bit harder Thursday & Friday to see if I
could have clocked the local Brown Goshawks or Sparrow hawks and get 6 in 6!
Cheers
Tom Wilson
