Thanks to everyone who replied to my post. I will check the trees for an abundance of food but there were no obvious signs when the birds were there. Our location here in the Lamington NP is a logical staging post for species migrating north and we have have good rain and warm weather lately so there are plenty of insects around. Other birds species are also in significant numbers especially White-napped and Yellow-faced Honeyeaters, both of which pass through here at this time every year. There have also been small flocks of Little Lorikeets for the first time for about 10 years and other spp are on the move as well. Rose Robins and Golden Whistlers have moved down from their higher altitude summer haunts in the rainforest into our backyards here in Beechmont.
Regards,
Barry Davies
Beechmont (SEQ)
