Newhaven is run by AWC, but Gluepot is still run by Birds Australia. The local management committee of Gluepot has done a wonderful effort in raising funds to ensure the ongoing management of the reserve.

AWC (http://www.australianwildlife.org.au) and Bush Heritage Australia (http://www.bushheritage.org.au) both manage properties exceptionally well. They don't just raise funds to purchase the properties. They ensure that they also raise funds to guarantee the ongoing management. I regularly support both organisations.

Earth Sanctuaries also purchased land for conservation in the past. But they tried to make it commercial and ran into cash flow problems. AWC took over the management of Scotia and Yookamurra Sanctuaries from ESL.

My personal opinion is that Birds Australia should never purchase any more properties for conservation. They can identify suitable properties for the conservation of birds, but I would hope that they would get AWC or BHA to purchase and manage the property, and then in a partnership / MOU with Birds Australia it could be possible for BA to coordinate the bird research aspects.

Access has been restricted on some of the properties, but hopefully this won't be an issue for Bowra. BHA allows good access to Eurardy Station in WA, and AWC has access to Mt Gibson and Mornington in WA.
