My Australian Geographic magazine arrived yesterday with a flyer from
Australian Wildlife Conservancy advising of their plan to purchase Bowra
Station, which is situated "on the Warrego River plains in the heart of the
Mulga Lands in Southern Queensland".

The Federal Government will provide a grant, however a further $1m is required
to secure the property. A generous supporter has agreed to match all (tax
deductible) donations, ie $0.5m needs to be raised from public donations to
secure the property. This will ensure its preservation as a designated area
for the protection of a number of endangered species and as a special
destination for birdwatchers. I have visited Bowra twice in recent years and
can attest to its deserved reputation as a national birding hotspot.

Information on the property can be obtained by googling Bowra Station,
Queensland. A donation form can be downloaded from AWC's website,
www.australianwildlife.org. This has a comments section where, presumably, the
donation can be dedicated to Bowra Station.
