Hi Simon,
Have you looked at personalised Google maps? They're free.
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
Otherwise, when in Google
http://www.google.com.au/
click on 'maps' in the top left and then on 'my maps' in the top left of the next screen.
Click on the 'learn more' link for more information.
Cheers,
Merrilyn

Hi birding-ausers,
Hoping someone may be able to help me source some simple mapping software for Australia which would allow me to store information (not just bird names) by location. I want to be able to store information via a detailed map ( with roads/tracks/towns/landmarks etc), ie scan/scroll to the location you are after ( would have to be down to less than a km or so) and then click on the spot to bring up info to add to, or edit. Does any such system exist?
I have used eremaea and birddata, both great for storing bird lists, but I
really want a much more detailed map as a starting point, and don't need
birdlists to work from necesarily, just a blank box for entering text.

Cheers,

Simon Starr.
