Many decades ago shooters successfully lobbied governments (in Victoria anyway) to reserve various wetland areas to enable ducks to breed. I think they did do 'restoration' works and install duck breeding boxes too. This has always formed part of their arguments and justification for being allowed to continue this barbaric practice. I am unaware of them, as organisations (no doubt some individuals did), continuing much of this conservation work more recently. I doubt they have done anything, as organisations, about trying to limit climate change. They have also (I believe) fought attempts to ban lead shot. Steel shot wears out guns more quickly but does not cause lead poisoning when ingested by birds and other animals. Wendy |
