Hi all The reports on the bushfires have been great, and I appreciate the people putting them on. The poll in the australian is a worry to me. As an ex Public Servant, I know that politicians response is often that they HAVE to do something or the opposition will be make huge mileage out of it (and the people who win elections for them are the small number of swinging voters). I wouldn't personally respond the Australian, but I would be gearing up with everything possible to counter act any backlash. Local newspapers and letters to the Australian may be more effective. I hope that sanity prevails - but I took early retirement, because of my level of disillusion!
