I saw one sitting on a submerged reef off Budgewoi Beach back in about 1990.
It was in January. I was fairly new to birding at the time so didn't report
it officially as I thought it unlikely to be accepted. I still have a clear
memory of the bird, however, and am 100% sure that that's what it was.
From memory, one turned up in someone's back yard in the Kurri Kurri/Cessnock area around about the same time.I've also seen them at Byron Bay a few times, but I guess that wouldn't be considered unusual. Paul Osborn |
