An important update for those who have not seen the Little Bitterns. There are 3
Juveniles which we have been getting fabulous views of, for the past few days.
This view is from the east bank looking over the water to the west bank. Not
from the bridge. Go down the track left of the bridge (when facing south) on
Borthwich Av. Today, Monday 12th, they have moved further along the west bank
and to our surprised are starting to fly. One is actually venturing down to the
waters edge on the flattened reed-beds.For those photographers who left early
this morning.....OOh Dear, you missed it.At 7.30ish the mature male (of which
we were only getting quick glimpses) flew towards the nursery roost and all 3
juveniles went to it. He feed two of them and then flew off. Yes there was
moments when 3 juveniles and the mature male where all in one frame.
Classic. How good is that! Now that the young ones are more mobile they maybe
more difficult to find.Happy Birding Burney
