Happy New Year Birding-Aussers,

The discussion on streets named after birds recalled a thought I had some months ago.

If this has been done here before please tell me (can't check the archives at present).

How many Australian localities, towns or suburbs are named after birds?

Here are a few starters:

Galah (locality in NW Victoria - where I've rarely seen a Galah)

Bittern (Victoria - Mornington Pen.)

Cockatoo Valley (S.A. Adelaide Hills)

Murray Bridge
South Australia
