We do get them occasionally around parts of Tassie. There was a pair
at the Sewage ponds here (near Ulverstone, in NW Tas) for a couple of
days, a month or two back - maybe the same birds?? They only stayed
here a couple of days. There is another pair which has been around
Orielton Lagoon, in the south, for a few years. They don't seem to
have ever been in any great numbers, and why some are resident, and
others nomadic, is a bit of a mystery.
Anyway, thanks for the observation.
