We used to see Bluewinged Parrots perching on fences and feeding on assorted
tall weeds
such as docks near Reef Island, which is an islet linked to the east coast of
Westernport, between Corinella and Bass Landing. This was some years ago and
the area
may have changed.
It used to be a good spot for waders too.
NB. If you go out to Reef Island at low tide, make sure you get back before
rising tide
covers the bar. It gets deep much faster than you think and there have been
several
drownings here.
Bluewings could also be seen on roadsides in the Yanakie area, approaching the
Prom.
Best of luck.
