Hello Greg,

Murnea Rockhole is the location where F.W.Andrews made a number of Night
Parrot collections at night under "next moon" conditions, I guess this would
be full moon. It is referred to directly in correspondence dated 25 november
1883 between Andrews and Dr.T.W.Haacke, then director of the South
Australian Museum. He describes Murnea Rockhole as being "8 miles" (13km)
from "Moonerie" in the Gawler Ranges. You can read the extract from his
letter in Emu 76(3) 120-126, Foreshore, Fullagar and Harris, "Specimens of
the Night Parrot in Museums Throughout the World". I haven't looked on a
topographic map to see if Moonerie still exists as a place name, let alone
Murnea Rockhole. Please keep us informed Greg if you find it.

Cheers Jeff.
