G'day all
I'm up here on a work trip - not much opportunity for birding and the rain
has just kept tumbling down.
I was hoping for a Channel-billed Cuckoo but none so far and a couple of
the locals I've asked don't seem to know it so maybe not a common sight in
these parts.
There are several Koels in town calling all day - I caught a glimpse of
one. There was a Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater in a park yesterday and today.
It seems to be close to their eastern limit in these parts. The local
corvid is the the Torresian Crow - an unexpected surprise. There is a
small colony of Fairy Martins nesting under a road bridge in town. A
Gerygone (Western or White-throated) was heard but not seen. I can't
distinguish their calls.
A year tick was a few Blue-faced Honeyeaters in a silky oak tree.
Hopefully the C-bC will show itself tomorrow before I head home.
Cheers
Steve Clark
