The road to the Rufous Scrub-bird sites at Gloucester Tops is still closed awaiting repairs. You can only drive as far as the NPWS camp site, then its a 15k (mainly uphill) walk to where they are found (or more usually heard).

No news yet on when the road will be repaired and open again - my guess is now half way through next year!
Matz,

You won't find Scrub-birds within less than a five-hour drive and a long-ish
walk on top of that from Sydney. That's before you take into account the
likely hours you'll spend trying to get a glimpse of one!

The nearest location I'm aware of is Barrington/Gloucestor Tops to the
north. If you only have a day in Sydney, you'd be better focusing your
energies elsewhere.

Cheers

Andrew Stafford
