Hi, I really enjoy bird-watching, and I think my passion for it has rubbed off
on some of the youth in my local church group here on the Mid-North Coast of
New South Wales. We have a small band of teens getting their bird books out and
trying to identify everything they see. Its great! Our church is planning on
attending an Australia-wide youth conference early next year and we needed
fund-rasing ideas so we can get there. So myself, two 14yr olds and a 22 yr old
have planned our own twitchathon as our fund-raising. On Friday myself and a
14yr old practiced the last half of our leg with great results: 141 species
including the Lesser Yellowlegs! Bet that hasn't been in a twitch count before!
What I was wondering is are there any of you willing to encourage these
youngsters in their birding skills and knowledge by sponsoring our team? We
don't need heaps of money as our conference only costs about $300 or so each,
but I think they would be thrilled to know some others are interested in their
hobby too! If you would like to contribute please email me directly! Thanks,Matt
