Bob,No, the SunBOG group didn't get to see Broad-billed Sandpipers last Sat, though we did get a goodly number of waders and species .Over 840 Bar-tailed Godwit, 144 Eastern Curlew, around 100 Whimbrel, as well as Great Knot, 4 Red Knot, Curlew and Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, Common Greenshank, Grey-tailed Tattler, Red-necked Stint. And leg-flagged Great Knot, one from Victoria and two from Japan. Also both Mangrove Honeyeater and Gerygone. Toorbul rarely fails to impress. Bishop's Lagoon on the way in was, by contrast, pretty berefit of water birds, though a solitary Brolga flew in whilst we were there. Wandering Tattlers are pretty regular gets at both Point Cartwright and Wickham Point (Caloundra Headland) Russ Lamb, Maleny,SEQ |
