Hi All,
Alistair Stewart has reported an unusual white-eye from floodplain
habitat in Kakadu NP, NT a few days ago. It was associating with
Yellow White-eyes. Based on his description, at this early stage, it
sounds like the Timor race of the Pale White-eye; a bird that has
previously been recorded on Ashmore Reef but not from the Australian
mainland. Pics of the Ashmore Reef birds can be found here:

Alistair is back out there at present attempting to verify the identification.
I have also uploaded some pics to my website of the Eurasian Little
Grebe that it is presently in Darwin.
They are in the 'Vagrant Australian bird section' and are the 4th and
5th pics down.

Other good birds seen in the Top End in a whirlwind trip included
Rainbow Pitta - Buffalo Creek, Oriental Cuckoo and Rufous Owl in the
Botanical Gardens, Gouldian Finch, Yellow-rumped Mannikin and
Buff-sided Robin in the vicinity of Mary River. Also a few nice
reptiles and frogs.
Cheers,
Rohan
